You have the option of an acetate frame on your Jabrock glasses. Cellulose acetate is used as a film base in photography, as a component in some coatings, and as a frame material for eyeglasses. The material is hypoallergenic, made from a renewable resource, lightweight, and extremely strong. It’s also rather beautiful. Where acetate is selected for the frame, original Jabroc® wood is included and embedded on the temple. Of course, you can have all wood, if it's your style.
It’s an unlikely partnership but one that leads to a perfect product. A racing driver and stuntman, both driven by strength, creativity and accuracy to rise in their chosen profession. We lend our journey, name and funds to this product, as part of a career based on a love for the unconventional. We’re passionate people who saw a gap in the market for eyewear that’s extraordinarily durable and utterly unique. We wanted to create objects that withstand the force of lives and encapsulate the energy, freedom and adventure we aim for in our personal story. We’d like to get you know you as you pledge on our Kickstarter page and we’ll be life-logging our journey throughout.
The drive and creativity inherent in the Jabrock product is designed to appeal to every person who encapsulates the unconventional. There is a strength in our process that works with the extraordinary. See the people we meet through our social media, each one representing a facet of "I AM JABROCK". This is for you.
The behaviour of the Jabroc® natural wood means each piece develops its own characteristics in colour and grain, so no two frames are ever the same. Each one has its own individuality. Our frames go through such an extensive crafting process, it’s not difficult to see why they’re works of art in their own right.
Jabrock eyewear encapsulates a form of unconventional creativity that we want to applaud. On this page and through our social media, we invite you to meet some of the millions of faces that stand for the same stuff we do. We are Jabrock.
We specifically wanted to launch Jabrock through Kickstarter to energise both the product capability and the community surrounding it. Eyewear is very much a personal choice but is as defining as anything else we wrap on the body. There's a uniqueness that comes across and is purposely cultivated.
Our traditional "day jobs" don't give us any lessons in marketing, so we felt it best to simply be who we are, share what we feel and welcome you onboard. This is your unconventional journey as much as it is ours. We welcome your feedback.
The World's Strongest Wooden Sunglasses
The World's Strongest Wooden Sunglasses
Jabroc® (the material to which we add a K to create our brand) was Initially applied to Formula 1 cars in 1994 for safety reasons. Since then it has been developed and fitted to all modern day racing cars that rely on downforce in order to control the level of the car on track. We believe its first main use was on the world war 2 Spitfire airplane, to construct the propellers. We are the first to construct eyewear with it and we’ve perfected the process over 24 months to produce glasses that withstand an unconventional lifestyle and look pretty great.
Jabroc® wood has half the strength of steel at only one fifth of its weight, as strength and weight play an important role in motorsport. We consider it the carbon fibre of the wood-world and our glasses are possibly the strongest and most durable wooden sunglasses to ever be created. There are not many materials capable of withstanding the forces of 200mph, mere millimetres from the ground. Dean is in the driving seat of those cars, so he's rather familiar with the strength of Jabroc® when it matters most of all.
Jabrock glasses include high quality Polarised lenses with full UVA/UVB protection. Technically, this means they restrict the vibrations of (a transverse wave, especially light) wholly or partially to one direction. Put simply, they reduce glare, especially around water or reflective surfaces—environments often found in the pursuit of the unconventional! Different colour tints are available and will be shown on our Kickstarter, with or without an acetate frame. The glasses and frames are water resistant.
The behaviour of natural wood means each piece develops its own characteristics in colour and grain, so no two frames are ever the same. Each one has its own individuality. Our frames go through such an extensive crafting process, it’s not difficult to see why they’re works of art in their own right. Our Original Rock frames are hand worked, piece by piece, so you can be sure your frames are one of a kind. We've done all this with engineering partners who work on supercars, not your ordinary specs.
As we approach the final steps on our two year journey to Kickstarter, we're offering a series of sweepstakes on our Facebook Page. Prizes include an Action Cam and a Supercar experience day. Follow us to find out more!
The winner will be picked from all likes/shares at random by Mark & Dean here at Jabrock Labs. We can't wait to see your journey unfold. Click here for the link to Facebook.
